Birdcage veil bridal headpiece feather fascinator

Description

Perfect for retro/vintage style or rockabilly weddings, or for the bride looking for something a little more original, this adorable headpiece is based on a feather pad and will be hand decorated according to your specifications.

This style of headpiece is called a cocktail hat or a fascinator. It is sewn to a comb for easy and secure attachment to any hairstyle. All adornments are securely hand-sewn for an elegant and sturdy piece.

The veil of white diamond netting with chenille dots is made in the very popular "birdcage" style. (We can also make the veil in ivory, with or without chenille dots.) The length falls anywhere from below the nose to about chin length, depending on where you position the hat. We use an entire yard of netting, hand-pleated to fit around the headpiece, and folded at the back into a double bow to give you a nice full effect. Many birdcage veils fit too tightly around the head and cling to the eyelashes or create a "helmet" feeling but we use sufficient material to make sure you have a good amount of "poof."

The feather base measures 7 inches long by 5 inches wide. The version pictured here features a pad of white feathers, worn at a jaunty angle across the corner of the forehead. It is adorned with two large fabric flowers, slightly shimmery in material, and a spray of white eyelash feathers.

The middle three pictures show the white version of this fascinator. The first photo, courtesy of one of our previous customers, shows the ivory version. The last picture shows a turquoise and black version of the birdcage veil to give you a better idea of the shorter length of the veil when the headpiece is positioned further back on the head (last photo by Alan Pedroso).

We can make a custom version for you that uses a different color of feather pad, including ivory. We can also use a white pad and colored flowers or different colors of eyelash feathers. We have a wide variety of flowers in numerous sizes - for instance, we have white orchids, or miniature rosebuds. Other options include ribbons and decorative buttons. Please note that this style of hat does NOT have a detatchable veil. The veil is sewn directly to the feather headpiece. We can make the veil detatchable from the headpiece, but this takes significant extra labor and added materials, so we charge $25 extra for this option. If you want the veil detatachable, let us know and we will set up a separate listing for you.

**PLEASE NOTE FOR CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS:
- If you require a specific species of flower that is somewhat out of the ordinary, we may not have it in stock and it may have to be custom ordered. We charge up to an extra $10 in this case, depending on the cost of the flower. Please email us ahead of time if you think you will need something special.
- If you are looking for a different SHAPE of veil, there is only so far we will be able to customize the shape of this birdcage veil. We specialize in FULL birdcage veils in a retro style. Again please email us ahead of time to see if we can do the shape that you want.

This hat will be custom made once it is ordered. Shipping by USPS Priority mail is $5 (no tracking or insurance, but does include delivery confirmation). UPS has recently increased their rates so UPS Ground can be up to $15, depending on location, but offers tracking and insurance. International buyers please email for shipping costs. We will combine shipping for multiple purchases. Paypal is preferred. If you wish to send check or money order, item will ship once payment has cleared.

**NOTE FOR BRIDAL HATS** As headpieces are often ordered months in advance of a wedding, we strongly recommend a hat stand to keep your veil straight and neat until your special day.
