Food and dishwasher safe although care in loading to prevent chipping is advisable.
A word about microwaves: I had been told that a microwave may cause the glaze to "craze" on ceramic items. However, my husband informed me that he microwaves food all the time in my painted pieces and I have not seen any crazing of the glaze. So there you are.
