Hand Dyed (Over-dyed) Bulky Wool Striping -- Messin With Kaffe's Head -- ELVISH (125grams)
Description
This listing is for one skein of yarn like the dyed one in the photos. I have one 125gram/219yd skein available here, and I can supply others on request. I have a limited but decent supply of the base yarn (for now). Please convo if you are interested in more yardage.I've decided to price these skeins at the flat rate of 25.00 per skein. Most of them are considerably over 100g skeins (ranging from 115 to 145grams in each skein). I'll report the grams and yardage in each skein listed so you know the deal you're getting :)
Messin' With Kaffe's Head:
Here's something a little bit different...
Rowan launched an exciting yarn called Colourscape. The colorways were designed by Kaffe Fassett. I have access to a number of skeins of these at a discount, so I decided to play around with over-dyeing the colours to see what I could come up with. I kind of like mine better than Kaffe's (shh..don't tell anyone I said that)
ELVISH: Was colour 430 (Carnival). I overdyed it into deep beautiful purples, rusty browns, dark teals, and blues, with lots of lighter bits to bring out the zing. The striping is very subtle with all kinds of flecks and bits of colour. I'm knitting a sweater in this yarn, and I'm loving it.
Photos show the yarn before and after I dyed it. The last photo shows the original colorway beside my dyed one.
In photo one, I'm showing the sleeve of Hudson, a sweater in the pattern book Noro Knits. I'm knitting myself a Hudson in this colorway.
Base yarn is a single ply, soft and fuzzy pure wool bulky. The yarn will stripe in long repeats. The effect reminds me of Kureyon striping (especially if you remember Noro Big Kureyon), but the yarn is much softer than Noro Kureyon.
You can look up patterns for Rowan Colourscape yarn to use with this yarn, or you can use patterns for Noro Big Kureyon. This is a good yarn for mitts, hats, scarves, bags, home decor, outerwear, and any kind of felting project.
This Skein:
100% Yorkshire Lambswool
125grams/218yards
Bulky: 14st=4" on 6.0-7.0mm needles
Hand wash in cool or lukewarm water; lay flat to dry (or) Felt
I hand-dye all my yarns one at a time, with care and attention to detail. I live in a non-smoking, dog/cat-free home.
Packages ship within three business days of receipt of payment. Please read my profile box for details on my policies.
I ship surface/ground to the US and Canada. This is the cheapest rate available from Canada, and most packages arrive in one to two weeks.
**International/Overseas Buyers Only: Shipping rates listed are for Airmail. Surface/Ground takes two to three months, but Airmail typically takes one to three weeks. If you prefer the cheaper method of shipping and don't mind a really long wait, I can refund you the difference between Airmail and surface and ship it that way instead. Surface rates are usually the same as those listed to the US.
