Neptune's Leaves Hand Painted Silk Scarf, wearable art

Bright new leaves kissed by spring sun inspired this gorgeous, hand painted, crepe de Chine silk scarf. The primary colors here are a pale yellow green and a bright blueish green (Neptune green). After adding the veins on the maple and gingko leaves, the scarf needed more color so a few were hand painted. The result is a beautiful piece of wearable art.

Looking for a scarf that can suit many styles? Then look no further. Wear this one traditionally tied with tails off one shoulder or as a jabot. For something different, try it loose off the shoulders or as a sash on an a dress. It measures 7.5 inches by 48.5 inches (19.05 cm by 123.19).

Initially hand dyed pale yellow green, the acid dyes were steam set. The leaves were "painted" using a soy resist. The accent (squiggly) lines were also added at this point. The scarf was then dyed Neptune green and again steam set. After removing the wax and cleaning, the veining on the maples and gingko leave, plus the additional color to some leave were added. These are mostly pastel dye sticks which were heat set. Finally the scarf was rinsed in a conditioner. It has rolled hems.

To clean it, wash the scarf in a mild soap like baby shampoo, rinse in a conditioner and hang dried. Press on low or your silk setting if needed.
