ORIENT EXPRESS Mystery Charm Bracelet

Description

It was early June in 1883 that the first 'Express d'Orient' left Paris for Vienna. Renamed Orient Express in 1891 the original route ran from Paris, to Romania, to Vienna and finally Istanbul. It was during one of these treks that a mysterious murder took place nearly baffling Agatha Christie's fictional Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. This bracelet pays homage to the train, the detective, the author, and the intrigue. It measures approximately 8 inches and is silver-plated curb link with an easy-to-close toggle clasp.

The beads -- some modern, some vintage -- are an exotic mixture of the colors of gold, amber, smoky topaz and black, in an assortment of glass, lampwork, acrylic, stone and metal. The variety of charms featured reflect both train and story as follows: the key to Mr. Ratchett's cabin, the knife that killed him, pastries served in the dining car, the train engine, the menu from the dining car, Poirot's umbrella, a French con, and Princess Dragomiroff's ring. In the center is a miniature vintage poster advertising the train, handmade by me out of hard, durable, but lightweight plastic. The image is one side only and coated with a protective matte sealer. Hanging with this, and signifying the murder, is a tiny yellow acrylic skull bead.
