There are so many beautiful kinds of chickens out there! This is a Maran hen, a lovely speckled black and white or light gray breed that lays gorgeous, deep, mahogany colored eggs. My hen is made from natural undyed black and white wool yarn with organic and eco=wool yarns for the eggs and details. On her underside is a slanted opening for removing and tucking back in her 1/2 dozen felted wool eggs.

Hand knit, pieced and stitched and then felted, she is a pretty yet sturdy creation that will endear and endure. A lovely teaching toy, sorting toy, fiber sculpture, dining centerpiece.

The hen is about 8 inches tall by seven inches long and about 4 inches at her widest. the eggs are about 2 inches long each, approximately the size of a standard "medium" grade egg.

Hand wash only, lay on rack to dry, with eggs removed.
