Ancient Roman Fresco

"Flora" was the Roman goddess of flowers. "Flora" was originally worshipped as the goddess of seeds and fruit. Later, she became the goddess of all that flowers. When was We know that her festival the Floralia, was introduced to Rome around 200 BC.

In Rome, April closed with the Floralia, to petition for the healthy blossoming of the season’s flowers. It lasted from 28 April to 3 May, and appears to have been "A Grand Old Party".

Wall painting of Flora, after whom the Floralia was named now has its place in the Museo Archaeologico Nazionale, Naples.

Roman art is not just the art of the emperors, senators, and aristocracy, but of all the peoples of Rome's vast empire, including middle-class businessmen, freedmen, slaves, and soldiers in Italy and the provinces.

I just love the fact that they had entire scenes of nature painted on their walls.
