Alpaca Fleece - white, raw fiber

Description

This fleece is from the 2009 shearing from our alpaca named Pelasia. See the before and after pictures above. She has her own web page at http://hollyhockalpacas.com/hfa_pelasia.shtml if you would like to get to know Pelasia and see what her name means.

This is the prime fiber / blanket. It is very soft, crimpy, white, well skirted, weighs 34 ounces. It is unwashed, but relatively free of vegetable matter. The staple length is easily 4 inches long. Unlike sheep, alpacas do not have lanolin, thus the fiber will not loose much weight in processing.

If you are interested, I will include a free CD containing washing instructions for alpaca fiber. The CD is my instructions which I have found to work for me and others I have shared with. Please let me know if you need the CD.

If you prefer, I could ship the fiber to the processing mill of your choice. I can recommend a mill near me and if the timing works out, I could deliver in person and save your shipping costs from me. You would still need to pay to have the roving or yarn sent to you from the mill. Please convo me with any questions and to work out these shipping options.
