Lymphatics- Number 2 in a Series

Description

This portable piece of original mixed-media art focuses on anatomy, vintage printing, and gorgeous, silk-screened Japanese chiyogami paper.

A print from a vintage copy of Gray's Anatomy is hand-altered with a warm pink acrylic paint. The background, and each tiny lymph node and gland, are carefully painted.

I chose the lovely, pink sakura chiyogami paper because I thought the juxtaposition between the cadaver and the cheerful flowers was intriguing.

The shoulder of the cadaver is trimmed to wrap around the side of the 3 x 4 inch wood cradled panel.

This piece of art is one of a kind, and is made from archival and professional quality materials, from the acrylic paint and glaze, to the wood panel and pH neutral glue. The block is open in the back, and hangs easily on the wall using a thumbtack. It can also sit quite handily on your computer desk or shelf.

I am working on a series of these little body blocks, and will list them as they are completed. Jugular is #1 in this series.
