It is late afternoon on the Creek. The water is shimmering in the summer sun as it flows out along the 'Carrick Roads' waterway on it's way to the Atlantic Ocean. Out on the ocean, in the centre of the picture, huge ships pass by on the horizon, and in the foreground sailboats of many sizes lazily meander along the creek in the afternoon breeze.

On the hill-top on the right headland sits Cornwall’s greatest fortress, Pendennis Castle. The Castle was built 450 years ago by King Henry VIII to defend against possible attack by Spain and France. (See picture 3 for an enlargement of the detail described here)

On the shoreline on the left side, people are paddling in the shallows hauling in their row boats. (See picture 2 for an enlargement of the detail described here)

This is one of those pictures that you can look at for hours as there is so much detail in every part of it. It is probably not possible to see all of this detail on the small picture in this listing - but it will be clearer on the print, but needs to be BIG to be appreciated. In fact, I have a 16 x 16 inch print of it in my studio and it is a favourite with everyone.
