Phoenix Silk Scarf

Description

A subtle rainbow runs the length of this pretty pastel scarf. There's a phoenix flying over one end of the scarf, and an edge of vines and leaves against a background of pale lilac to blue add depth and interest. This rich piece is painted on a beautiful piece of jacquard silk with a pattern of small brush strokes woven into it. It is 11" wide x 59" long.

These beautiful pieces are like original water color paintings, made one at a time with no two exactly the same. The last view (on the right) shows a stretched scarf in the process of silk painting. The fabric starts as a plain white blank. I draw in the details with gutta, or resist, and then use a paint brush to fill in the color with professional silk dyes. The piece is then steamset for colorfastness. It can be easily cleaned by machine on the gentle cycle, or hand washing in cold water. Let it let drip dry. Most pieces can also be dry cleaned.
