Cruelty Free - Contrast So Simply Feather Hair Clip

All of my hair clips/barrettes are carefully handmade from feathers discarded by my pet fowl during their seasonal molt; therefore, there is a very limited supply of my cruelty-free, handcrafted barrettes and earrings. I carefully trim and place feathers in multiple layers, checking to make sure they affix firmly. This process takes several hours from start to finish because I have to wait for glue to dry before placing another layer of feathers.

This hair clip contains feathers from several varieties of fowl, including the Cayuga duck and one long, shiny white Faverolles cockerel feather. Shiny feathers from a cockerel and silver laced Wyandotte are layered on top with just a pinch of grey/white down. The large fan-shaped feather that provides the base is from my white turkey.

The hair clip is metal and measures 3 inches by 1/4 inch, approx., so it is a smaller clip that is not meant to hold up "thick" hair. The front of the clip, the feather part, measures 4 in. long by about 3 inches at the widest part of the fan.

This clip is reinforced with wire.

No dyes are used. Feathers fall naturally from happy, healthy, talkative friends of mine.
