These earrings measure about 2 1/4" long. They feature Swarovski crystals.These earrings are made from handmade fused fine silver rings and other handmade fine silver parts. They are 100% fine silver and have handmade fine silver headpins and handmade fine silver earwires.
What is fused fine silver? The metal, 99.9% pure fine silver (different from sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver), is formed into a ring and heated until molten, making the ring solid. I usually shape and hammer these rings afterward for texture and strength. This is an exacting process--the slightest overheating or underheating or uneven heating of the ring will cause an unsightly bubble of metal in the ring.
