In this new series of original etching prints, I am working with the idea of romantic love and neurobiology. I refer to this series as my little neurobiology valentines. As of yet I have two pieces in this series, but I have plans to create four pieces total. We all like to think falling in love involves more that just a few firing synapses in our brain—well, I suppose many of us don’t think about firing synapses at all when pondering love. In some of my past work I have dealt with this same juxtaposition of romantic ideals with a physiological process. While deep down, I am probably a romantic; I like to question our feelings when in love. How much is just a neurological reaction? Why does one person send us flying over another? Is this real? This work is an attempt to combine the ideas of Western love-the imagery we associate with it, with the neurological iconography of love.

Printed in magenta Graphic Chemical ink on antique rose Bugra paper. Swans are hand-painted with gouache. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist, and packaged in a cello sleeve with acid free foam core to keep the print safe and clean while in transit to you.

Note: this listing is for one print. The last two thumbnails show the two prints in the series as of yet. The magenta ink is more intense in Swans Floating in Dopamine than in Cupid’s Arrow in the Brain.
