Description

Here we have the second of my Cabinets Of Curiosity. This structure measures 11" x 9-1/4" x 5".
The wood verticle doors are open to a bird with a transluscent egg (from which light appears to come from the interior of the egg) with a background of many transparent images on plexiglass at the doors, including a butterfly, wood cabinet, phrenology head, spider, a real branch from a tree mounted, scientific labels, images from antiquarian books, bright color parrot, etc. The label on the bird's leg looks like a real specimen label from an item at a Natural History Museum. The plexiglass is also embellished with leather, text from an antiquarin volume ("Jar of the closing" and "The Tincture, do that thing of") including partial section of an antiquarian engraving, real (incredible!!!) shell fossil mounted on plexi and a rock with quartz showing through plexiglass and mounted at plexi. Also, small cache of items (beetle, leaf, acorn, broken mirror, etc) bird might collect in corner at back of cabinet.

The bird is sitting in the Cabinet on an antique Arts & Crafts movement door hardware piece.
The base, bird and doors are wood.
