from my mother's living estate is a most unusual, rare, six piece set of antique Indonesian 800 silver demitasse spoons . They all display the Wayang or Wajang, Hindu Indonesian shadow puppet figures from the islands of Bali and Java.This unique set was acquired in 1949 when my folks went on a tour of South East Asia for their honeymoon. Possibly made before 1949 but can definitely date to that year. Made to order just for my mother's taste and demanding requirements, this set is assuredly one of a kind. Not to be missed by the demanding collector. The set comes wrapped in special tarnish-proof silver fabric pouch.

All pieces are all marked 800, "V", and a makers mark. These fabulous spoons are compliments to the other Indonesian flatware sets that I also have for sale. This auction is ONLY for the 6 demi tasse spoons.

Each spoon has a smooth handle capped with a hand engraved, open work depiction of a Wayang Kulit. The Wayang or Wajang are Hindu Indonesian shadow puppets from the islands of Bali and Java. They are used in traditional theater along with music and religious stories to bring harmony to Hindu and traditional Indonesian cultures. The first record of a wayang performance is from 930 CE.

These highly collectible, unusual spoons are in excellent condition, all bright and shiny, displaying no dings, dents or damage, no monograms or removals. There is some normal, light surface wear and scuffing, but nothing serious or detracting. Much, much nicer and shinier than my photos depict, each piece gleams and has a warm silver patina and has been hand polished by moi! It's much shinier than my photos show. All you have to do is wash it, dry it and use.

Each spoon measures 4 1/4 " long. They each weigh 10.6 grams. The set weighs just over 2 troy ounces of silver.
