40g Acid-dyed Silk Hankies

Description

A nice thick wadge of beautiful, soft and lustrous silk hankies. These contain the whole cocoon, so long and short fibres; they have been degummed and pegged out on a square frame.

I hand-dyed them with acid dyes, in purple, orange and two shades of pink and then I steam-set the colours.

Hankies can be split into several thin layers, and either spun from one corner, or poke a hole through the centre and pull your hands apart to draft out the fibres into a large circle, break the circle at a thin spot and you have a silk sliver ready to spin (or even knit or weave without spinning - it is a really strong fibre).
