74 x 88 double bed sized quilt

I "inherited" this quilt top which was made by a women who died with no living anybodies to give it to. She was a fine quilter in the Philadelphia area who had completed the top but never finished the work. Based on the colors and materials, I believe this quilt to have been made in the 40's.
The pattern is hand stitched and then hand appliqued onto 16 inch blocks. The blocks are machine pieced together.

I hand quilted & bound the quilt and then added buttons to the center of each of the 20 blocks.

The border is lovely using the plate motif giving it an undulating edge.

The base color of the quilt is salmon and while the pieces are varied there is an over-all continuity and balance of palette with a gentle green dominating the color scheme.
