Happy Abortion

Description

Look, nobody likes abortion. I mean, I can't think of a single person who looks forward to getting one. Or looks back on their abortion with glee.

The fact of the matter is, they're painful, physically scary and they make you feel like you can't take care of yourself, like you've made a terrible mistake or let yourself down. They leave you with a feeling of regret. And in extreme cases of post-non-partum-depression, they make you feel like a bad person or even worse, a murderer.

The thing is, you get an abortion because you don't have room in your life to take care of someone else. And there's nothing wrong with that. All we can do in this life is take care of ourselves. Your decision was part of you taking good care of yourself.

I made this card, so you (or someone you care about) would know that it's not the end of the world, you made a hard decision, to put your life first. And that's OK.

It's not fair that women have the entire burden of deciding life on our own, since we don't create the life by ourselves. And yes, boys can weigh in, but boys don't come with guarantees. And once you have that other person in your life, the boy can split, and there aren't a lot of repercussions. So, it's all on us. 25+ years of taking care of someone else is a long time, a lot of money. And some of us can't hang with it. I'm glad we have options. And I don't think there's anything wrong with you (or your friend) exercising hers.

There really is no judgment in the card. I think you really did do a good job taking care of yourself. And I hope making a joke out of it can help ease some of your burden.
