This is a TINY baby hat specifically made for a very preemie baby. Babies lose 70% of their body heat out of the tops of their heads. Very preemie babies are unable to regulate their body heat well... so protect that helpless little one with a lovingly handknit, soft little hat!

The hat is made from a recycled acrylic, cotton, and wool blend yarn that I hand dyed with food-grade dyes. It is VERY soft. It can be machine washed and dried... though if your dryer is VERY hot, I recommend air-drying just so you don't melt the surface of the yarn and make it scratchy.

Hat is shown pictured on a standard US light bulb, that is 7 3/4" (20cm). The hat will fit a head about 8-9" (up to 23 cm) in circumference.

Nobody likes to think of it, but having lost 3 babies before birth myself (in addition to the 7 I have alive), this hat would also be suitable to dress a premature stillborn baby. I have found that little, caring touches like that really help in what are otherwise very trying circumstances.

For 2009, 20% of the profits from my etsy listings (sales less listing fees, CoMS, and mailing supplies) are going to the building of a new Youth Center here in the Greater Knoxville area!
