The World Beneath - cover design proposal for Cate Kennedy's new novel

Much excitement and anticipation abounds regarding Cate Kennedy's first novel, The World Beneath. Cate is an admirer of my work and explained some of the key concepts behind her novel to me. Then I set about making this design. The publishers decided to go with a different cover but it was exciting to be invited to design one, nonetheless.

This is edition number four of a limited edition of twelve. The paper measures 30cm x 46cm (12" x 18") with a small white border around the image.

Do yourself a favour and find a copy of 'The World Beneath' (published by Scribe) - it is a great read, with references to Greek mythology throughout. The Tasmanian wilderness makes a awesome and bewildering backdrop for the story. The leaves in this print are from the 'Fagus' plant that is important within the story. I'll say no more...
