A Whale and her Rider

Description

I adore working with wool - straight from the sheep, goat, or alpaca, carded and combed, dyed or natural, and needle or wet felted. When wool is worked either with water and soap or a sharp barbed needle, the natural microscopic scales on each wool fiber lock together, forming soft and sturdy, totally natural toys. I hope you enjoy these friendly woodland additions to our farm store!

This little lady and her whale friend were born on a trip to Nantucket, and are crafted from 100% wool. The rider is needle felted onto a wire armature to make her positionable. Made in the Waldorf style, her face is simply finished for imaginative play. She stands 5.5 inches high and her friend and favorite method of transportation, her big blue whale, is wool and alpaca needle felted onto a wool and wire armature, and comes in at 11 inches long. A sturdy wet felted wool saddle allows her to sit tall and can be taken on and off with the built in toggle closure.

Both whale and rider are made to stand up to gentle play and would love to find a home on your nature table or in your playroom, though they are not recommended for very small children who still mouth their toys.
