Please note that this listing is for a PDF pattern -- it is NOT for a finished object or a 'printed-on-paper' pattern. The PDF will be emailed to you within 24 hours of receiving your payment. Naturally, no shipping applies.
If you're looking for handmade laptop totes, click the "Bags and Totes" section of this shop (on the right).
************************************************************
This pattern is for a quilted laptop tote that measures approximately 15" (H) x 18" (W) when completed. It is suitable for any notebook or laptop with a diagonal screen width up to 17". The tote has three external pockets for a power brick, a mouse, and other bits and pieces. The pattern can be adapted for larger or smaller laptops by adjusting the dimensions of everything except the binding strips and the handles.
The tote's construction requires straight stitching, with some zigzag to overlock the edges of the main seams. However, at times there are many layers to stitch through, so you will need a walking foot for your sewing machine, and, if you want to do free motion quilting, you'll also need a suitable foot for that (typically a darning foot), as well as some experience with free motion quilting.
The pattern includes full written instructions, with more than 30 photos and diagrams illustrating each step of the process. As a bonus, there's a separate Techniques section for techniques you may not be familiar with. This pattern has been tested.
Following this pattern, it should take you about 8 hours to make your first tote. As you get more familiar with the process and depending on the closures used, your second and subsequent totes should take about 4 to 6 hours each.
You can make and sell the totes created with this pattern, as long as they are not mass produced. I reserve the rights to the design, the pattern, and the written instructions. The pattern is for personal use only, is not to be reproduced in any way and is protected by copyright laws. I have faith that you will respect the long hours and creativity that have gone into producing this pattern.
