Turquoise and Purple Scarf Hand-Dyed Silk Organza with Bubbles

Description

This turquoise and Purple scarf was hand-dyed using traditional Itajime Japanese shibori fabric dyeing methods. Itajime techniques use clamps and pieces of wood to create designs on cloth. In this case, I dyed the silk organza a brilliant turquoise, then clamped the fabric in certain place and then dyed it a deep purple. The results are absolutely stunning.

This Silk Organza Bubble Wrap was dyed using low impact fiber reactive dyes. After dyeing, I embedded different objects into the cloth around the edges and randomly elsewhere, heat set them, then removed the objects to leave the shape permanently embedded in the cloth. The texture is reminiscent of bubble wrap. Hence, Bubble Wrap-to-wear!

Why not use this wrap as something blue for your wedding? Or, wear this to a fancy occasion, as Mother of the Bride finery, or just to drink a cup of tea and stare out your window? Wear it loosely, pin it to your shoulders, tie the included ribbon in front or the side or the back (makes a cute bustle).
