In an attempt to appeal to a broader "audience" at my last show, I made a few relatively conventional paintings; and this is the only one I have left (the other two were commissioned portraits of dogs). I wouldn't say that this painting was some kind of torturous effort on the part of an artist more accustomed to painting whales, disease and Jazz musicians; but I will say that I won't be painting another non-commissioned flower any time soon.

The panel's cradle is painted black and varnished -- finished to allow for attractive 'frameless' display.

The painting itself is also varnished, as always, with several coats of 'Kamar.'
