About the original painting:
The “Portrait of a Bee” series is a continuation of my fascination for bees and their disappearance. Each painting in the series has a different portrait of a bee that I have drawn over a collaged canvas and painted with acrylics. I also allowed some honeycomb to peak through- creating an awareness of Colony Collapse Disorder while at the same time showing the beauty in the natural world. The honeycomb fades in and out of visibility, giving an ephemeral feeling to the piece.

Materials used in the original: decorative papers, glue, pencil, acrylic paint, pens, ink, varnish, canvas
