lil yellow dangelys
Description
these glass earrings were made very carefully, in multiple steps. I make all my glass murini patterns from scratch in a hot glass studio, and the silver settings are designed by me, and made specially for each individual piece. no two pair are exactly alike (they run in a series like prints). so, please enjoy the slight variations. The process of making glass murini is a labor-of-love; I start with 3 or 4 various chunks of colored glass. I heat them up individually, and while they're hot, layer them one on top of another (like dip coat for ice cream), and then stretch out the mixed glob of hot glass to a long, thin "cane". I then chop up the "cane" to shorter lengths, stack them back together in a colored cup (looks very much like pencils and pens in a cup), or bind the canes with steel wire. (see additional image as an example of pattern in process). I then load the bundle into a kiln, heat it and stretch the bundle out again into another cane. When the glass is cool, I slice it up (like sushi), and polish each slice. it is only then that i can make different types of jewelry out of them.
These murini earrings are just over the diameter of an American dime, or 8 cm. and hang about 3 inches from the ear lobe. they are really fun to swing around!
