Description

This bracelet is a 16-strand flat kumihimo braid, which I made from mixed, hand-dyed fibres in luscious shades of red with a hint of pink and yellow and a flash of gold.

The braid is 1cm (~.4") wide, and the bracelet measures 19cm (8 1/4") in circumference. It opens and closes with an antique bronze lobster clasp.

Kumihimo, an ancient Japanese craft, is a type of braiding done using a frame, called a marudai, and bobbins (in multiples of 4). In Japan, kumihimo braids are used to make obijime ties for kimono, and were used to assemble samurai armour.

Thanks to my fellow UK Etsian, sassalynne, for the beautiful hand-dyed fibres used in this bracelet~!

Thanks for looking~!
