Marie and Louis Crystal Key Violet Cameo Necklace

Description

A decadent fashion necklace inspired by Marie Antoinette and her husband, King Louis XVI of France (who was fascinated with locks and keys).

40 x 30mm purple resin cameo with the image of a beautifully dressed rococo-style maiden in white. Cameo is framed by a flowery vintage silver-tone setting.

Large key charm, 2 3/4", sparkles with clear crystals.
Sterling silver toggle closure at the back with detailed floral design.

My favorite detail is a single carved amethyst heart/leaf bead. This purple gemstone has long been associated with spiritual properties and is thought to prevent over-indulgence (a peaceful token, I thought, for the notoriously extravagant Marie Antoinette).

Necklace measures approximately 23".
Gorgeous vintage plastic beaded chain (from 60's, made in Japan) with creamy baroque pearls mixed with faceted clear acrylic (imitating crystal) and milky lilac lucite beads (imitating jade).
