Hand Spun Single Ply Yarn

Here is a hand spun single ply yarn spun by me from 100% bamboo fiber - handdyed by fiberlady.etsy.com. This is colorway "Chocolate Cherries". Shades of chocolate brown, purple, and pink/fuchsia.

Please note - I'm having trouble getting the pictures to show the colors accurately. The brown shade doesn't look quite brown enough in these and the purple shade is slightly different than it appears here. They are pretty close, though.

Sport weight

Bamboo is washable but due to the dyeing I would still wash this in cool water and air dry.

Bamboo is an environmentally friendly fiber with a unique anti-bacteria agent that should last for many washings. It is also naturally pest resistant and due to the fiber structure of bamboo, it can absorb and evaporate sweat from human skin very quickly (thus making it very cool in summer!). Bamboo has the sheen, weight and drape of silk but much more durable! As wonderful as it is, please keep in mind that it has NO memory like WOOL does, so it may not be good for fitted knitting or crochet projects unless used with another yarn. But, for draping projects or projects where elasticity is not required, it is excellent! And SO soft and shiny!
