Large Butterfly 8x8 Tile

Description

A large swallowtail butterfly graces this substantial tile.

This relief tile is hand pressed in stoneware and glazed in multiple colors. The butterfly's wings are golden yellow tinged with orange at the outer edges, with a dark blueish green glaze in the larger recessed areas, emphasizing their sculptural dimension. A soft black glaze accents additional patterning. The butterfly's body is glazed in brown and has orange eyes. The background of the tile is a variegated dusty blue.

Tile measures roughly 7 and 3/4 inches high by 7 and 3/4 inches wide and is about 5/8 of an inch thick at the edges.

It is notched on the back so it can hang on a nail.
