1950's Vintage Designer Claire McCardell Black Wool Dress with Obi-Style Waist Ties 50s, New Look

Claire McCardell soft black wool button front dress with a wrap waist tie. The tie is attached around the back of the dress and hangs loose at the sides, several feet in length so that it can be wrapped numerous times around the waist like a cummerbund - a signature design of Claire McCardell. The dress has a simple style with a loose fitting bodice, darted seams at the sides. Tapered sleeves that fall a little closer to the wrist than 3/4 length. There is fine pleating at the side waist of the skirt, as well as two side slit pockets. Label reads, "Claire McCardell Clothes by Townley."

Condition: Beautiful dress with no noticeable issues. Dress has been steamed, pressed and thoroughly examined for any flaws. Clean and well cared for, no stains or loose seams and the underarms are excellent. On close inspection there is a small blemish to the wool fabric on the bodice that is not noticeable (a slightly shiny spot). There is a small well done darn on the right side of the skirt that is not noticeable. There is also a small hole on the inside lapel that is not visible. There are two tiny holes on the first layer of fabric of the belt that are not noticeable due to the doubled fabric. The skirt has been taken up a couple inches, the original bottom button is still there if you choose to let the hem out.
