Butterflies symbolize "the soul" or "the dance of life" or "transitions" and "changes". While change can be difficult and sometimes painful - it is believed that all change is good... bringing you closer to your higher self.

Transitions occur in butterfly medicine as follows:
The first stage is the Catepillar Stage, when it is believed that you are holding on to old ways of thinking that are no longer useful to you.
During the Cocoon Stage, often perceived as a period of loneliness and dissatisfaction or restlessness - one is preparing and becoming the butterfly, or final stage of transformation.
