Ramani - The Bollywood Mermaid, is a One of A kind, unique Art Doll made from Calico like a traditional rag doll. She is approx 70cm long when laid flat and button jointed at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, as her tail is sectioned internally to allow her free movement. Her body is soft and sculpted, with a wire spine and fibre filled. Her face and the exposed parts of her upper torso were coated in several layers of gesso then painted in artists acrylics. Her Hair is made from 2 different styles of wefted synthetic hair extensions and ranges in colour from jet black to deep brown with auburn flashes.

Her over-tail is made of a sparkly scaled lycra that has added frills and fins of netting, sequins and gold sheened lycra. The bottom inch or so is empty to allow the fluke to fall into different positions. On the front and back of the fluke, I have added 2 wonderful embroidered motifs from a vintage sari. Each of her elbows is capped with a 3-dimensional starfish and she has mehndi or henna tattoos on both forearms. She has a clam shell bra and "seaweed" jewellery and hairband strewn with coral chips and little "pearl" beads and findings.

All of my dolls are "One of a Kind", from my own original patterns and take hours to make, using traditional calico fabric and are stuffed with hygienic top quality synthetic soft toy filling. They are made with a machine and finished with hand stitching. The faces are hand painted in artists acrylic with glitter and special finishes. Each doll comes wrapped in cello with an adoption certificate. All my dolls are intended as adult collectables and as many contain wire, and have small parts (bells, beads & buttons!). They are designed for display rather than for play/young children.
