Does your mind draw a blank at spelling some of the most commonly-used words? Here's a handy little pocket-sized book, copyright 1891, that lists "Common Words Difficult to Spell". Some common words listed in this book include:

vein, vane, vain, paws, pause, habit, quilt, ought, tardy, scholar, teacher, recollect, possessor and many others. 88 pages.

The cover is extra thick with Nouveau torch and leaf designs. There are discolorations (nice!), and worn corners (sweet!!), and the right edge of the front cover has some of the heavy cardstock showing.

Book measures just 4 1/2"x 6 1/2". The pages have some crease lines and "X" marks on some of the pages, and a couple torn corners, but all in all, a wonderful collectible little book. The inside first page has handwriting on it (see photo). The book apparently was sold by Mann & Hastings Books Stationery Engraving Store in Troy, N.Y., and owned by Miss Clara Taylor.
