Kitchen soap with cornmeal and baking soda

Description

This soap is a fantastic hand soap for the kitchen sink. It's got cornmeal for scrubby texture and baking soda to help neutralize onion, garlic, or other cooking odors from your hands. (My best customer is a fisherman in New London who keeps some on his boat.)

This soap smells good, too! Fresh and lemony, with hints of geranium and rosemary. I love lemon in soaps because not only does it smell clean, it actually helps to clean by cutting through grease.

Kitchen soap, like all my soaps, is exceptionally gentle. I use an unusually high percentage of olive oil in my base recipe--about fifty percent. I then add enough coconut oil to boost the lather, but not enough to be drying; palm oil to make a hard and long-lasting bar, and a decent amount of shea butter so your skin will feel soft. And I use a touch of castor oil, which makes the bars lather even better.

I make all my soaps in small batches using the cold process method. I scent them with natural essential oils, and occasionally an absolute or resin. I never use synthetic fragrance oils or artificial colorants.

Kitchen soap is a good sized bar, weighing between 4.75 and 5.25 oz. The scent is unisex. I think it makes a great soap for anyone who loves to cook.
