Victorian Girls Paper Scrap Tinsel Christmas Ornaments
Description
Victorian Girls Paper Scrap Tinsel Christmas Ornaments.Set of three.I made them from English paper scrap,German metal tinsel roping and lametta tinsel icicles. The icicles contain pewter.Approx.2-1/2in.wide X 3-1/4in.tall.I construct my ornaments from antique, vintage and distressed materials for an aged look.I want them to appear as if they have survived 100 or more Christmases.Because of this, there will be minor imperfections, all of which are desirable because they add warmth and patina to
the ornament. For example:minor creasing, yellowing of cotton batting and chenille, age darkened or slghtly faded crepe paper and scraps, tarnished tinsel, etc.
USA buyers,postage includes delivery confirmation.

~A Brief History:Homemade Christmas ornaments made from scraps of paper, cotton, scraps
of cloth,yarn,tinsel,ribbon,
etc.were some of the earliest Christmas decorations. Most of these decorations were finished on only one side, though some were done on both sides.
~Commercially made ornaments of this type came from a cottage industry (where other forms, such as blown glass were being made)in Sachsen,
Thuringen,Frankfurt am Main, and Breslau regions in Germany.
~Homemade ornaments of cotton batting glued on cardboard shapes, then decorated with paper scrap, tinsel, and glitter became popular in the Pennsylvannia Dutch regions of the U.S.A.
This form of Christmas ornament became so popular that patterns were published in ladies magazines from 1880-1900.
