Black and White Striped Agate Pendant Bracelet wire wrapped with Sterling silver wire

Description

This beautiful bracelet is wire wrapped with sterling silver wire and created around the lovely black and white agate. It was produced in two parts, combining the lovely standard bracelet and pendant structures. This bracelet measures about 7 1/2" wrist, normally to wear as a bangle.

Agate is found all over the world and is made up of a kind of chalcedony quartz. It forms by filling cavities within rocks. The agate forms in rings - similar to that of a tree. It can be found in all the colours of the spectrum. The shape and colour depend upon the circles created. Green and blue agate is the more rare colour, but does show up occasionally.

Chemically agate is the same as tigers eye, petrified wood, and jasper, and physically the same as quartz. Petrified wood is actually agate that has replaced some of the organic matter in the tree, slowly and over a long period of time. The structure of the tree will remain but the tree inside is a fossil.
