I never noticed how hard it had become to find a nutcracker in local stores until a friend pointed it out. Perhaps in-shell nuts are harder to find now, but for those who love the just-shelled flavor (or pick them off trees), or are just tired of going through one flimsy store-bought nutcracker after another, this sturdy brass nutcracker could be your answer!

With 2 sizes of hollows to grip both small and large nuts, this sturdy nutcracker not only operates with enduring utility, but also carries a lot of historical interest. Many cast brass lever nutcrackers were made in England in the 18th and 19th centuries- designs included cats, dogs, lions, crocodiles, skeletons, and the popular ladies legs nick-named “Naughty Nellies” and figures like Shakespeare, Fagin and Sykes, and Mr. Pickwick. This one shows William Shakespeare "The Bard" and the Hathaway Cottage.

Made c1850
Materials: Brass
Lovely green patina has been left intact.
Made in England
Height: 5.25"
