Description

This ladybug mug is from one of my most popular lines- It is an 8 oz cup with glossy white glaze, strewn with tiny red ladybugs. It measures 3.25" tall and feels nice in your hands.

I have been making ladybug ware since 2001. My husband and I lived in the country and had a ladybug invasion every winter- I began making small cups, bowls, and plates, putting a smattering of small clay balls on their surface, then painting them to resemble the ladybugs that were all over my studio. p.

I throw the pieces on the potter's wheel, trim them, add slip (liquid clay) dots for the ladybugs, add the handle, bisque fire, dip the entire cup in glossy white glaze, hand-paint each ladybug, and fire to cone 6. Both clay and glazes are lead-free and safe to use for food, and in the oven, microwave, and dishwasher.
