Sunflower, Madonna, and Child

Joe Sosa is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin."I am influenced by Matisse and Van Gogh. The piece that I have in this exhibit, Sunflower, Madonna, & Child, uses the sunflower to represent the circle of life. The sunflower has seeds, sheds them and then comes back to life - it grows and it dies. That's the whole cycle of life. What I'm working on now is sunflowers and angels, to combine the cycle of life with spirituality. I like to experiment a lot. I think that's one of the things an artist does. I don't personally like to be tied down to one medium because I think there is so much to learn as far as expressing yourself." Presently Sosa works in multi-media, including paradigms, collage, primarily creating three-dimensional works.

This print is a part of Serie II, 1994-1995. It is printed on 100% rag paper and the image area measures 16" x 16". Each print in this edition of 50 is signed, titled, and numbered by the artist and includes the Coronado Studio chop mark. Ships with an official certificate of authenticity.

All Serie prints are hand-pulled, limited edition screen prints created in Austin, Texas at Coronado Studio in collaboration with the Serie Print Project residency program.
