Sea Turtle Doll

Description

An original and one-of-a-kind sewn fabric turtle figure from the studio of artist/dollmaker, Zhenne Wood.

The fabric I used to make this serene little turtle friend is a fine cotton batik fan print. The warm yellow, teal and umber mottled colors of the shell and body give the effect of swimming just below the surface of water or resting in dappled sunlight. Both the upper/lower shell (carapace and plastron) are padded and handstitched. The fan areas of the shell have been embellished with an assortment of lovely and unusual hand-sewn new and vintage sequins. The body of the turtle is embellished with some touches of gold fabric paint and also I signed and dated it with gold fabric paint.

In handmaking my turtles, I use both sewing machine and handsstitching. This turtle measures 9" from top of head to tip of tail, 7" across from paw to paw, approximately 3" from top of shell to feet.

Will be securely shipped to its new home and insured. Please note, if you buy two turtles, they will be shipped together and additional postage for second turtle will be $1.00. I do not allow returns on sold items. I am happy to giftwrap and ship direct upon request.
