Krobo - Recycled Glass and Sterling Earrings
Description
Wonderful aqua Krobo Tribe Recycled Glass beads wrapped in oxidized sterling silver to a Hilltribe fine silver finial. These rustic beauts hang just over 1/2" from the bottom of oxidized sterling silver leverback earwires.Old discarded glass is collected, washed and sorted into colors... the glass is pounded into minute fragments by hand and fill home made clay bead molds. The glass fragments are then fired in home made mud kilns to melt the glass fragments, then bead holes are made with twigs from the Cassava plant or a piece of metal. This innovative process employs many tribes people in both the Krobo & Ashanti tribes. Sales of the many styles of krobo beads funds community projects in education, water irrigant & medical care.
