Nuno Felted Alpaca and Silk Scarf in burnt oranges
Description
I've been playing around with nuno felting for a while now, and this is the first of several scarves that I feel confident enough to offer for sale! I made it by hand from silk that I dyed, then embellished with a hand-dyed luxury fiber roving from our own alpacas (baby alpaca/silk/angora. This is done with the process of felting the fibers to the silk by rubbing with soap and water. The autumn colors (dark orange, browny-maroon, and a hint of gold) almost have me wishing for fall. The fringe, made from handspun yarn and set off with glasss beads, adds a touch of fancy. Finished size is approximately 6" x 55".
