Linocut Linoleum Cut Colorful One Sheep Hill

Description

This is a hand pressed linoleum cut of a sheep on a yarn ball called "One Sheep Hill". This is the design that has won 1 of the honorable mention award for Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival 2007 Catalog Cover Art Competition. The color that was printed with linoleum is maroon and there are 5 other colors done in water color. The size of the image is about 7 by 8 inches. This is a limited edition of 100.

Each print is hand pressed, hand pulled and hand colored, so they will have a slight difference.

Its printed with Daniel Smith Oil Based Ink on Rives heavy weight Paper cream (100% cotton and acid free).

It will come with a foam board for support and wrapped with plastic. Definitely combine shipping with other purchases!

About Linoleum Relief Printmaking Technique

The relief print is the simplest and most directs of all the printmaking techniques. Relief printing is a subtractive printing process where areas meant not to print are physically removed. Thus resulting in the image areas to be printed to be left behind and created in relief. This is achieved by cutting away the areas of the image, which are not meant to print. The remaining areas that are in relief are the areas that will print. Materials most commonly used for this technique are wood and linoleum; while plaster and clay slabs maybe used as alternative printing substrates.
