Upcycled Journal/Sketchbook .Hole in the Tree.

Description

This book has been created by recycling a vintage hardback children's book named "The Hole in the Tree". Inside it is filled with 60 blank pages of white sulphite drawing paper, which is heavy weight (80 lb) and has a bit of texture to it. This paper accepts most media well, including ink pen, pencil and markers. The pages are hand-cut and sewn together using coptic binding which allows it to open nice and flat, and the exposed red stitching on the spine is awesome! Inside the covers are end pages made of patterned Amy Butler scrapbook paper. This book also features an heart-motif envelope style pocket with a kitscy hedgehog bookplate in the front cover so you can mark this book as all yours! I've embellished the front cover with red velveteen woodland critters to round out the design.

As an art student I was always disappointed about how boring commercial sketchbooks and journals were. They killed creativity rather than inspiring it, and I brought mine to class only to find that it looked like everyone else’s. I have created these one-of-a-kind books so you can own a journal or sketchbook that reflects your own unique style- you’re days of blending in are over!

There are so many fun possibilities with this design! It makes a great journal, sketchbook, or diary and is durable enough to hold up well inside a backpack or purse. (I carry mine everywhere!)
