This is one of those staple pieces that you can keep wearing year after year - and, it will last year after year, because it a very high quality garment, made from fantastic materials.The condition of this skirt is phenomenal - does not appear to have any wear whatsoever (I don't think that the owner of this skirt ever wore it, to be honest.)
The color has absolutely no fading: the shade of black is as smooth and bold as ink.
The quality of this garment is so high that you could wear it to a variety of occasions: it would look sophisticated and chic at the office, out to dinner, or for any evening. And, because the style of this skirt is so classic - it would fit occasions that aren't so formal.
It is truly a classic, staple piece that will fit into any setting because of its quality - and, can take on the persona of the items you wear with it, regardless of the style or occasion.
THE BASIC ELEMENTS:
The distinctive waistband that makes this skirt so unique and flattering, breaks the classic form of this skirt in a very subtle way. The waistband is the marker showing the era of this skirt, because it takes its shape from the oversized and decorated belts of 1980's.
The waist band looks like a standard band from the back view, however, in the front the band grows in width across the center front. But, this wide and thick looking waistband is what makes the whole skirt so flattering. The extra width at the front waist just visually "sucks in" your natural waistline - giving anybody an hourglass figure!
Below the waistband, subtle gathering from the waist opens to a smooth fit over the hips, and then straight down in a sharp, straight pencil line to the bottom hem - which, hits above or, at the knee (model is very tall - please check measurements given below to know exactly where the skirt's hem will hit your legs.)
You may notice in the photos that the model has her hand in a pocket - there is one pocket on this skirt, and it is at one side only (not sure why they didn't do two - who knows!)
In the back, there is a 9 inch split along the bottom hem (for better movement when you walk!) At the top of the center back, up through the waistband, there is a zipper closure, and a single tab closure above the waist.
Additional evidence of the quality of this garment is underneath that wool surface, because it is fully lined.
