Two Australian Crows, Etching
Description
This etching is of two Australian crows. It was made using soft ground etching and then hard ground on top. To etch you need to cover the copper plate in a waxy substance, this is called 'ground'. There are two types ground, soft and hard. Soft ground gives softer lines, almost like a 6B pencil line. I have smudged into the soft ground to create tone. The hard ground gives strong crisp black lines. Each time you apply a ground and draw into the waxy surface the plate has to be placed into the acid so as to eat into the copper to reveal your image.image size 15.5 x 9.5 cm (6 x 3 3/4inches)
paper size 27 x 23.5 cm (10 1/2 x 9 1/4 inches)
It is one in an edition of 15, printed on highest quality Hahnemuhle cotton rag paper with black Charbonnel printmaking ink.
