Crochet Winter Hat pattern PIF - Pay It Forward

Description

This is a PIF for the pattern (designed by yours truly) of a crocheted winter hat in an adult size. Something simple that takes about 1.5 - 2oz of yarn. The pictures shows a few of the ones I've made.

PIF means Pay It Forward. But for this one no payment/purchasing necessary! (Unless you really want to.) Just print this page (or cut and paste). Simple Winter Hat

Materials used:
-Red Heart No Dye-lot Yarn (any non-bulky worsted weight yarn will work)
-Size J crochet hook.

Sitiches:
bpdc - back post double crochet
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
fpdc - front post double crochet
rd - round
ss - slip stitch
() - repeat

Ch 5 and ss to connect ring.
Rd 1: ch 3; dc 10 times, ss to connect
Rd 2-3: ch 3; 2 dc in each stitch. connect
Rd 4-6: ch 3; 1 dc in each stitch. connect
Rd 7: ch 3; (1 dc, 1 dc, 2dc) repeat around. connect
Rd 8-19: ch 3; 1 dc in each stitch. connect
Rd 20-22: ch 3; (fpdc, bpdc) around to create rib. connect

Note: can also be worked as a spiral, just skip the 'connect' and 'ch 3'. Doing this will make a child-sized hat, depending on your tension.
