Harriet the Spy Bag.

My library recently discarded a copy of Harriet the Spy that, despite multiple sessions of mending, had to be replaced -- it had been so loved for so long that obviously I couldn't just let it get recycled!

This bag features the full page illustration of Harriet.

The bag measures about 7in by 12.5in by 3in, with two 4in by 5in pockets -- one on the back of the bag and one on the inside. The strap is good and long (almost 4 feet), to allow wearing the bag courier-style. The outer fabric is a blue cotton and the lining is a print of blue birds (cranes, maybe?) with a cream-colored background.

The book illustration is laminated, which will provide a decent amount of protection from the elements, but I don't suggest submerging it or anything.

I do all my sewing (unless otherwise mentioned) on an old Singer from the '40s. It weighs a ton, as it only has one stitch (two if you count reverse) I have to hook up a separate attachment to make buttonholes, and I ADORE IT.
